Your Mental Health Matters 

At Rachel’s House, we know that mental health plays a big role in an individual’s quality of life. This is why we provide outpatient treatment to individuals who have been diagnosed with mental illnesses or substance abuse disorders.


We believe that community-based support can greatly help in recovery, and our goal is to create a safe space where people can recover and regain control of their lives without fear of judgment.

Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (SAIOP)

Rachel’s House Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (SAIOP) helps individuals learn how to manage life issues and day-to- day living without the use of mood- or mind-altering substances or drugs. Our SAIOP program promotes recovery, self-sufficiency, development of support networks and other important life skills to enhance mental health and reduce the risk of needing inpatient treatment.


SAIOP services shall include a structured program consisting of, but not limited to, the following services:

  • Individual Counseling and Support
  • Group Counseling and Support
  • Family Counseling, Training, or Support
  • Biochemical Assays to Identify Recent Drug Use (e.g., Urine Drug Screens)
  • Strategies for Relapse Prevention to Include Community and Social Support Systems in Treatment
  • Life Skills
  • Crisis Contingency Planning
  • Disease Management
  • Treatment Support Activities That Have Been Adapted or Specifically Designed for Persons With Physical Disabilities, or Persons With Co-Occurring Disorders of Mental Illness and Substance Abuse/Dependence or Mental Retardation/Developmental Disability and Substance Abuse/Dependence

Substance Abuse Comprehensive Outpatient Treatment (SACOT)

Rachel’s House offers a Substance Abuse Comprehensive Outpatient Treatment (SACOT) Program which is a periodic service that is a multi-faceted approach to substance abuse treatment for adults who require structure and support to achieve and sustain recovery.


SACOT emphasizes a reduction in use and abuse of substances and/or continued abstinence from the negative consequences of substance abuse. It supports the development of social support networks and necessary lifestyle changes, educational skills, vocational skills leading to enhanced work activity.

Services are provided during day and evening hours so that individuals can maintain residence in their community, continue to work or go to school, and to be a part of their family life.

Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR)

Rachel's House Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) Program provides services to adults with psychiatric disabilities. Our PSR program supports members to make changes in their values, goals, knowledge, skills, life roles and self-image. Due to these changes, members no longer see themselves as the diagnosis they were given but as the persons they are and can live rich and rewarding lives. Our program is open Monday thru Friday. The program hours of operation are from 8am to 2pm.

Outpatient Therapy

Outpatient Services offers individual, couple, family, and group counseling for individuals in a traditional outpatient setting. Our therapists provide therapy for children, adolescents and adults that struggle with managing a wide range of mental health, behavioral and/or substance use disorders.

Comprehensive Clinical Assessments

A Comprehensive Clinical Assessment is a screening that is used to assess the overall physical, mental, and emotional health and wellness of a person. A CCA is used to determine the diagnosis and the needed services for a recipient seeking mental health assistance.

Peer Support Services

Peer Support Specialists are people living in recovery with mental illness and / or substance abuse and who provide support to others who can benefit from their lived experiences. The North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist Program (NCCPSS) provides acknowledgment that the peer has met a set of requirements necessary to provide support to individuals with mental health or substance abuse issues.
